INIC Preschool Celebrates 10 Years of Spanish immersion Childcare WITH FULL CURRICULUM in Austin and Round Rock

Since 2012, INIC has sought to be the best workplace for teachers and the best preschool for young learners 0-to-5 years old in Round Rock and Austin, Texas.

INIC Preschool is grateful to celebrate ten amazing years serving south Austin and Round Rock families. When little scholars arrive with their shining faces, it puts a big smile on our teachers’ faces. What a gift! We’re proud to know that evidence (including new research at UT Austin) continues to prove that authentic Spanish immersion curriculum gives very young learners an educational edge including higher math, reading, emotional, and analytical skills.

Opening, PTA & Community Carnival

INIC Preschool’s original location opened in 2012 on Emerald Forest Drive in South Austin. The following year, the first annual community carnival was held, and the Parent Teacher Association was formed, deepening the community connection amongst families, children, and teachers.

“The PTA makes a huge difference,” says co-founder Maria Ciccone. “Parents want to be involved in their child’s education, which is essential. The PTA brings parents together to improve their child’s learning environment and support teachers. PTA projects have resulted in many joyful celebrations and gifts of appreciation for teachers, as well as the INIC Learning Garden, playground enhancements, and more.”

Changing Location & High Tech Tools for Parents

In 2017, the full curriculum childcare center moved to its current location – 2100 West William Cannon – allowing more families in the growing South Austin community to be served. The 12,000-square-foot facility was designed by teachers, for teachers, to create the ideal learning environment for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergarten prep.

That same year, WatchMeGrow, childcare's most trusted camera system provider, was implemented. Parents were able to log in and see their child’s classroom from a phone or computer while at work. Additionally, Brightwheel – an all-in-one app that empowers parents to communicate directly with teachers – also launches at INIC. Surveys show parents agree overwhelmingly that this feature improves their experience.

Covid Teacher Committment, Benefits Expand & Honors

Upbeat, qualified teachers have always made INIC the special teacher-led campus it is. In 2020 and 2021, staff received across-the-board pay raises. Back in 2018, the staff benefits package expanded to include health insurance offerings. Benefits for teachers now include health insurance, paid vacation, paid training, paid sick days, paid childcare enrollment, retirement investment, and much more. Also, INIC’s curriculum includes pre-built lesson plans which save time and make teachers’ jobs less stressful.

Since Covid started in 2020, staff have shown their grit and dedication, adapting to changing situations, rules, structures, and guidelines. “Their commitment during this time cannot be overstated,” says Ciccone. “I will be forever grateful to our educators who continued to teach so children didn’t fall behind in their development and parents could continue to work, especially first responders and essential workers.”

In 2020, Kev's Best honored INIC with the title of Austin's Best Preschool. And in 2018, INIC was named the Best Language Immersion School by NurtureMyChild.

More Proof: Language Immersion Gives an Edge

Late in 2022, research at the University of Texas at Austin reaffirmed what has been proven many times: very young children in a language immersion environment are better learners than kids in monolingual environments. The UT Austin study examined infants ages six to ten months old, showing children in bilingual environments have better attention spans and are better learners.

Preschool Expands to Round Rock

Much improvement and growth has happened over the past decade, but perhaps the biggest update happened in September of 2022: A second location opened in Round Rock, serving families in communities such as North Austin, Pflugerville, Cedar Park, Leander, Georgetown, Hutto, Taylor, and Liberty Hill. Additionally, the South Austin campus will expand soon – stay tuned for that announcement.

From the happy teachers, challenging curriculum, and secure classrooms to the cultural diversity, community involvement, and exceptional customer service, INIC Preschool strives to be the best preschool for kids and teachers in Austin and Round. INIC has focused on continuous improvement since opening in 2012, and will continue to do so into the future.
